In 1881 the German neurologist Carl Wernicke made the first steps in the discovery between a severe deficiency in the Vitamin Thiamine and its damaging effects on the brain. While very few of us will ever be so severely deficient in crucial vitamins, the scientific quest for the relationship between nutrients and brain health have continued ever since.
